Year In Review // 2015 Wedding Season
This year, I photographed my first wedding, then my second, my third, until I had 4 weddings and one intimate elopement under my belt.
My back is screwed up from sitting in front of the screen so long and lugging camera gear all summer. My eyes and muscles were way too tired to function more than once. I missed out on a lot of sleep as I stayed up late at night bringing people's memories to life. I wouldn't change a thing.
Julia and Josh were a true blessing to meet. From the beginning they treated me like family as I learned more and more about their love story leading up to the wedding day. They trusted me, at 16 years old (I was still a baby when they found me the first time a couple years ago!), to spend all day with them and capture their photos. I was so honoured to have been chosen to document this fairytale, and as you can see from the photos above, a fairytale it was! Their day was visually stunning and oh so romantic, held in the picturesque and adorable seaside village of Brigus. Our time spent together is something I'll never forget, as they took me in from day one and made me feel loved and truly a part of their story. Plus, they had an AWESOME bridal party who I befriended immediately, and were so much fun to photograph. Bridal parties rock. ;)
Melissa and Scott found each other in AB, fell in love, and blended their families into one big beautiful clan. They were finally coming home to Newfoundland this summer to seal the deal, and they asked me to photograph their small, simple, and sweet wedding in Spainard's Bay. They got married and held their reception in the same place Melissa's parents did, which was incredibly sweet. I had a great time with these two, they were so kind an fun, we all had a blast!
I can't say enough good things about this couple. From the start they were upbeat, outgoing, kind, and super excited to work with me! Their kindness and compassion toward me really warmed my heart, and continues to do so. Jen and Dan tied the knot at the Quidi Vidi Brewey (highly recommend!!) and their whole day was laid back, relaxed, and just plain fun! They really incorporated a lot of help and talent from their friends and family to create the wedding and pull it together. Jen and Dan hold a very special place in my heart due to their kindness, passion, and friendship we shared. And I mean, just LOOK at their dog in a tuxedo. Swoon!
Two kids and a postponed wedding later, k+d FINALLY said I do when they came to St. John's on vacation with their kids this summer! The little ones had no idea until the morning of, and were so excited to see their mom and dad get married :) Along with their best friends and parents, Kat and Geoff eloped on the cliffside of Signal Hill on a beautiful August day. Upon meeting them initially they were both very laid back, but when they said their vows they both broke out in emotion, and it was truly beautiful. This was a beautiful experience and I am touched they found me and wanted me to photograph and preserve their vows to show all their friends back home.
Danni/Zack and I became fast friends since our first consultation. I was overjoyed to have them as part of my 2015 wedding family- they are kind, sincere, adventurous, funny, creative... And we were a perfect match. Their intimate fall wedding was filled with DIY details and personality, and really truly celebrated them as a couple. I was so happy to document their day and all its details, and I find it difficult to describe the impact these two had on me.. they treated me like an old friend from the beginning and we truly loved our adventure. I love these two together, and they warm my heart completely. I am very grateful to have met them.
Everyone I had the pleasure to capture this summer all touched my heart in their own special way, and it was a genuine honour and wonderful journey getting to know each and every couple as I was invited into their lives. I wish each and every beautiful newlywed the best, and I am blessed to now have 5 new sets of friends, all who have left a lasting impact on my soul. Thank you all for your faith, trust, love, friendship, and confidence in me. I am happy beyond belief that you opened new doors for me, and gave me the opportunity to explore what is now my biggest passion. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, 2015 wedding family, and I hope this is only so long for now. ALL MY LOVE!! XOXO, Maddie.
